Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably already know that we launched Day OF The Indie! What you might not know is how fantastically it was received by the community. Wow! Thank you all so much for your support. And thanks for coming back to see what we’re up to.
Being that we’ve just started, we’re still working things out. But we’re super excited and can’t wait for you to see what we’ve got planned for you next.
But first, we have a small request. If you wouldn’t mind, please go tell those rock-dwellers about us! Help spread the word: send a tweet, post a status update, or send smoke signals. It’s entirely up to you. In return, you will have our everlasting thanks and appreciation. -[:)]
Now on to what happened in the past month.
If you’re a die-hard League of Legends player, don’t miss out on Jake’s review of Katrina. In this review, Jake also shares some pro tips, so go check it out!
If you’re looking for a new point of view, Tammy gives you the run-down on why she’s using Adobe Animate for illustration purposes – instead of Adobe Illustrator. Tammy has a unique perspective coming from the old Flash days, so don’t miss this review.
Did you see Chris’s sketchy brushes for Affinity Designer? With these brushes you’ll be able to turn your clean vectors into sketchy works of art! Shhh – don’t tell Chris – you can grab these brushes for free! -[:)]
Speaking of Affinity Designer, Chris shares some insights in this quick review of Affinity Designer. Find out why you should consider using it for your next project.
Tammy created the perfect tool for the up-and-coming animators out there. You don’t have to worry about drawing or rigging, just grab this awesome rigged ragdoll and start animating and creating poses.
If you want to dab your paws into SceneKit, then look no further. Chris shows you step-by-step how to build a little 3D scene from scratch, using Xcode’s built-in SceneKit editor. You get to play with some animations too, using the Actions editor.
In this quick tutorial, Tammy shows you how to create your own 2D game assets using Adobe Animate.
Chris dropped a little 2D game assets pack with some punch! Make your own version of ASTEROIDS, and make it look cool with this modern retro-style graphics. Who knows, maybe there’s a tutorial on the horizon too?
Tammy dropped an epic MEGA pack of 2D game art, which includes over 180+ sprites, three characters, and a whole lot more!
Chris shows us a sneak peek into what he’s been busy doing. In this up-and-coming tutorial, you’ll get to start from scratch and learn the basic concepts of some of the modern 3D authoring tools out there. You’ll also have some fun while you’re at it.
Tutorial: Intro To Moho
Tammy will guide you through the basics of using Moho, which has everything you need to make amazing, professional animations.
Plus a lot more…
But we can’t tell you everything all at once. Your head might explode!
OK, this is the hard part for us: asking for help.
In order for us to make Day Of The Indie a success, we’re asking for your support. With your backing, we’ll be able to provide valuable content, more frequently.
Our goal is to keep our tutorials FREE for as long as possible. So, we’re going to try something out…
Most of our tutorials will include downloadable resources. Those resources take a lot of time to create. What we’re going to do, is offer the tutorials for free and give you the opportunity to show your support when you download the resource files. Some of these resources will carry a small fee, mainly because they’ll contain valuable content, which probably took a lot time to create.
Have no fear, though! It’s not going to cost you an arm and a leg. Plus, you’ll be able to use all of the goodies, royalty free, and in your own projects. This includes things like 2D & 3D graphics, sound effects, music, partial & full source code, and more!
But wait… there’s also another way! You can support our site by becoming a PATRON. That’s right, folks…
So, what are you waiting for? Don’t waste your money repairing that iPhone screen. You know you’re just going to drop it again. Why not contribute instead!
Head over to our Patreon page, and show us your support. If you do, we’ll engrave your name on DOTI! -[:)]
Thanks again for your support, and expect to see more of these updates on a monthly basis, where we’ll go over some highlights and discuss things to come. And remember, if you’re not having fun, you’re probably not doing it right! -[:)]
I am DOTI the robot. Pleased to meet you.
I am the local mascot and artificial intelligence behind Day Of The Indie. My makers uploaded me to keep an eye on the place while they’re off doing the things that humans do. -[:)]
